The Akaki Quality Branch Office of the Addis Ababa Food and Drug Authority held discussions with stakeholders, health forum supervisory members, youth and women's association organizations, and food and drug establishment owners regarding the implementation of the first half of the fiscal year and Proclamation 1112/2011.

In his opening speech, Ato Demis Gebreweld, the Manager of the Akaki Quality Food and Medicine Branch Office, said that the branch office has carried out encouraging and effective work to protect the health of the community and ensure that institutions provide services to the community in accordance with the standards during the first half of the fiscal year. He also conveyed the message that it is important for all of us to work together and work together to protect the health of the community and our own health by conducting risk-based control work.

The forum also presented in detail the activities carried out by the directorates of the office in the first half of the fiscal year and the activities carried out by the initiative, the certification of 161 health institutions, 141 pharmacies, and 332 health-related institutions, the findings of the inspection and the removal of expired food, medicine, and health-related products worth an estimated 1,070,842 birr, and the action taken against 145 institutions.

In addition, a detailed awareness-raising explanation and explanation was given about the issues stipulated in the Tobacco Control Law 1112/2011.

The participants of the discussion also expressed the view that the implementation of the Office should be jointly reviewed and evaluated by all the entities involved, that the work being done is good, that there should be intensified control work on the activities observed in schools and food and health-related institutions, and that extensive work should be done in terms of creating accessibility and transparency of guidelines.

Finally, the Office's Coordinator, Ato Demis Gebreweld, emphasized that most of the ideas, comments and suggestions raised should be made a part of the plan in the future, that it is necessary to know the source of the products we buy, that the Office should be an active participant in the activities it carries out by working together and exchanging information, and that institutions should respect the law and work according to the standards in accordance with the procedures.
