It was announced that training is being provided to senior pharmacy professionals in private pharmacies to address the findings during inspections and to bring the institutions to legality.
The Addis Ababa Food and Drug Authority announced that it is providing training to senior pharmacy professionals at all levels based on the findings it has found during inspections of pharmacies in the city.
19/5/2018
The training is described as a training that allows professionals to recognize the findings found during inspections and identify their gaps before taking action. Although this training was given in 3 rounds at the central level, it is planned to be provided to all (11) sub-city branches in the city and it started today at the Kirkos Branch Food and Drug Office.
The Kirkos Sub-City Branch Office provided training to 56 senior pharmacy professionals.
The training was given to increase the awareness of pharmacy professionals in the city and to enhance the control work, so that the medicine can reach the user community by following the proper process from production to the user community, maintaining its quality and safety.
Ato Wubayehu, Director of Health Institutions and Experts of Kirkos Sub-City, delivered the training and focused on the proper use of medicines, proper distribution of medicines and prescription of medicines, as well as the placement, prescription and distribution of narcotic and psychotropic medicines.
The training was attended by the branch's general manager, Sister Alemnesh. The official said that in addition to raising the awareness of the institution's experts in the field, it will also help the pharmacy experts in the city to prevent harm to the community in the health sector, especially in the distribution of medicines and improper prescription, and to improve the knowledge and skills of the supervisor and the city's health professionals, thereby helping to establish an effective health system. The training is said to be a training that helps prevent health problems caused by medication by maintaining the quality and safety of medicines from the production process to the user, creating appropriate awareness for the community on the proper use of medicines, reducing the drug addiction that is spreading in our country, and raising awareness among the community that usually uses medicines without a prescription.
It has been stated that the training will be provided in all 10 branch offices.
