26/6/2018 A.D.

The Addis Ababa City Administration Food and Drug Authority, based on the recommendations received from stakeholders, has requested the Federal Food and Drug Authority to take samples of Fine bottled water products manufactured under (Batch number 620) and have them tested. After conducting a sample test, the public is advised not to consume water products manufactured under this batch number as they are of poor quality and unsafe.

The Authority confirmed that the product contains slime/biofilm formation. This situation is dangerous to human health and the Authority confirmed that the production process did not follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Therefore, the Ethiopian Food and Drug Authority has issued various decisions against the manufacturing company.
1. The company has been banned from manufacturing and distributing the product to the market from February 24 /6/2018 until it has identified the root cause of the problem, submitted the results of laboratory tests to the authority, and has confirmed that the problem has been permanently corrected in the manufacturing process and has obtained a written manufacturing and distribution license.

2. In addition, the company has been ordered to withdraw the affected product (Batch number 620) from the market within five days and notify the authority.

Following this decision, the Addis Ababa Food and Drug Authority urges the public to refrain from using the aforementioned product and to report any water products manufactured with the aforementioned serial number to the nearest Food and Drug Authority branch office or toll-free number 8864 if they find them on the market.
