Tobacco is being banned in various ways in the city due to its harmful effects.

Addis Ababa City Food and Drug Authority is conducting extensive awareness campaigns on World No Tobacco Day under the slogan “Let’s expose the ways that lead to nicotine and tobacco addiction”.

City-wide awareness campaigns are being conducted in all branches and clusters to educate the public about the deceptive tactics of tobacco companies and protect themselves, their families and communities.

Therefore, the Nefas Selat Lafto Food and Drug Office is conducting awareness training and community mobilization for stakeholders and individuals from different segments of the society on World No Tobacco Day.

The branch office held a discussion with 448 different community groups on the occasion of World No Tobacco Day under the theme "Exposing the ways to nicotine and tobacco addiction" with the participation of all sections of society.

The guest of honor of the day, the head of the branch office of the Nefas Sel Lafto Sub-city Prosperity Party, Ato Mebratu Dessie, said in his message that all sections of society should understand the harmful effects of tobacco and work towards a solution.

The main objective of the training is to educate the youth and the wider community about the complex problems of tobacco. Let's be aware of the deceptive tactics of tobacco companies and protect them from addiction. Let's choose a place where the youth can live. Let's protect the beauty of the city and protect the health of the youth and employ them. A broad message and responsibility has been given to government officials, organizations and stakeholders to do their part.
