Kirkos Sub-city Office evaluated the results of its inspection activities in schools and community feeding centers with relevant stakeholders.
Date: 25/02/2019
The Kirkos Sub-city Office of the Addis Ababa Food and Medicine Authority conducted an evaluation—with relevant stakeholders—of the inspection activities it carried out in schools and community feeding centers, as part of its 90-day plan.
School principals, food preparers, child caregivers, representatives from health centers, and other stakeholders participated in this discussion forum, which was organized based on the gaps identified during the inspection activities conducted on 24/02/2019.
In her opening remarks, Sr. Alemnesh Abay, Manager of the branch office, welcomed the participants and emphasized that this forum is crucial for addressing identified gaps through the assumption of shared responsibility. Subsequently, a document detailing the results of inspections conducted at health centers, educational institutions, food service establishments, and childcare centers within the sub-city was presented by Mr. Techale Eshetu, the team leader for health-related institutions. The document outlined the primary gaps identified during the inspections, which were then discussed in detail.
A comprehensive and constructive discussion took place regarding these identified gaps, with all stakeholders committing to take responsibility for addressing the issues within their respective purviews. The day’s proceedings concluded with a reminder that safeguarding the health of the next generation—who will inherit the nation—must remain the primary and overarching objective of all efforts.
