Addis Ababa Food and Drug Authority organized a recognition program and employee branding ceremony for those who achieved outstanding performance in the fiscal year 2017 from the center to the cluster. The program was attended by the Minister of Health, Federal Food and Drug Authority, Mayor's Office, Council, Public Service and Human Resource Development Bureau, Planning and Development Bureau, Finance Bureau, Justice Bureau and other distinguished guests.
During the recognition program, the General Manager of the Authority, Mrs. Mulu Imebet Tadesse, delivered a welcoming speech to the invited guests and pointed out that Addis Ababa City is an institution that is working with a vision to create a comfortable living environment for its residents and guests. However, the Authority has conducted a comprehensive reform study at the center, 11 branches and 36 clusters, and has carried out a wide range of activities to ensure and monitor the competence of 40,000 food, health and health sector and health professionals.
She stated that in terms of reforming the institution, extensive work has been done in terms of fighting corrupt practices, in terms of operations, organization, human resource structure, creating a comfortable working environment and supporting service delivery with technology, and by putting the community in control, the health of the community has been saved by eliminating expired food and medicine that cost more than 200 million birr.
Mrs. Mulu added that the Authority is working hard to build a health regulatory institution that is suitable for the city. The Authority attributed the results achieved not only to the leadership and experts of our institution, but also to the support of various city leaders and, most importantly, the participation of our city residents. She stated that the achievements and efforts recorded should be strengthened and continued. She conveyed a message that we should all work together to protect the health of the community by preventing illegality and protecting the health of the community.
At the forum, the Deputy General Manager of the Administrative Sector of the Authority, Ato Fisa Abera, presented a report on the 2017 budget year evaluation process, objectives, and the organizations that achieved excellent performance from the center to the cluster during the fiscal year. He stated that the Kolfe Branch Food and Medicine Office came first, Akaki Quality came second, and Nefas Sel Branch Office came third, and were awarded trophies and various incentive materials.
Finally, recognition and awards were given to leaders and professionals who achieved excellent performance from the center to the cluster during the fiscal year.
In his closing remarks, the Deputy Mayor of Addis Ababa City, Dr. Jemalu Jenber, Head of the Public Service and Human Resources Development Bureau, congratulated the professionals and leaders who received awards for their outstanding performance. He also stated that the new brand of the authority will help it provide quality services to the community, and that the reform of the authority at the city level will be beneficial in protecting the health and safety of the community and preventing illegality.
Dr. Jemalu added that while much work is being done to support city service delivery through technology, the changes that have been made are not enough, and that leaders and professionals at all levels should take responsibility and work hard. He emphasized that despite the changes in service delivery, there is a need to work hard to maintain the standards of health institutions. He emphasized that it is necessary to work loyally to the people and the country to protect the health and safety of citizens. He also conveyed a message that the people should be inspired by the award and work hard to provide better services and be recognized by the people.
