The Addis Ababa City Administration and the Addis Ababa Medicine Authority have announced that they will establish a medical ethics committee for health professionals to investigate and resolve potential medical errors in the health sector.
The Ministry of Health, in accordance with the provisions of Directive 120/2014 and the Government Decree No. 84/2016 and Decree No. 60/2016, has been established to monitor the health services provided by more than 3,500 government hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes in the country, and to investigate and investigate any deficiencies in the quality of medical services and professional practices.
The government has a significant role in improving the quality of health services by investigating the problems that the public encounters during medical services, and in strengthening the public's trust in health services.
By law; The Director of the Department of Medical Malpractice and Health Professional Ethics, Ato Met Kel, said that if the medical staff of the hospital believe that they have not received the medical treatment properly or that a medical error has been committed, they can file a complaint with the institution in person. The Director added that the complainants who have filed a complaint are expected to cooperate with the investigation process and make a fair decision by following the appropriate procedures.

They also stated that they have an obligation to cooperate with the relevant authorities during the investigation process and provide truthful information to strengthen the justice system.
